Zayn Malik posted a 30-second black-and-white video of himself performing One Direction’s 2014 single „Night Changes” to Instagram on Monday evening (August 15), giving the impression that he was feeling a touch melancholy.

Just four months before Zayn Malik’s unexpected exit from the boy band in March 2015, the song was made available as the group’s fourth studio album Four’s second single in November 2014.
It was a top 20 success on the Pop Airplay chart and reached its highest position of No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100. Along with all of his other members of 1D, Jamie Scott, Julian Bunetta, and John Ryan, Malik co-wrote the song.
Everything you’ve ever dreamed of will go when you wake up, but there’s nothing to be scared of. Even when the night changes, it won’t alter me or you, Malik croons in the new video’s second half of the chorus, which was initially performed by bandmate Harry Styles.

Astute fans noticed that former bandmate Louis Tomlinson enjoyed the footage when he tweeted a video of himself singing the high notes from „You & I,” the fourth and final single from One Direction’s 2013 album Midnight Memories, back in June.
This happy news is a welcome change from the depressing headlines from last year about Malik pleading no contest to four charges of harassment against his ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid and Gigi’s mother, Yolanda Hadid, following an argument on September 29, 2021, in which the singer is alleged to have grabbed and shoved the elder Hadid. Malik and Gigi share a daughter, Khai.
At the time, Malik issued a statement on Twitter in which he referred to the incident as a „private matter” and lamented the fact that „this has been ‘leaked’ to the press despite my efforts to return us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves.”
