[adsense300gray]Just take a look at this watch and after that, try pronouncing its name. Yes, I gave up after a few tries, but the watch still looks fabulous, in a weird-crazy scientist way at least. This is the result of a brain-storming session between Urwerk and MB&F and their love child looks like… well, I really can’t say precisely.
At first, I thought that this experiment in design is a homage to an old typewriter machine, after that I remembered Predator, the movie, and this could definitely be his watch (the alien’s, of course).
The two well known watchmakers created the Experiment ZR012 “Nitro” after a LSD session (my guess, as good as anyone’s) and the design and movement was actually inspired from a Wankel engine. This is a rotary type of engine used in Mazda RX-8 and in airplanes, named after a German engineer who invented it, obviously.
The watch case in built from zirconium and that weird chemical formula is actually Nitroglycerin.
The C3H5N3O9 Experiment ZR012 Watch can be yours if you’re eccentric enough and you can afford its hefty price tag : $115,600. But you have to make up your mind very fast, because only 12 of these beauties were made, it’s a limited edition.
