Demi Lovato has spoken about how, in the wake of their overdose, they experienced “survivor’s guilt” in light of Mac Miller’s passing. Demi Lovato’s “survivor’s guilt”  made her question what If it was them in his shoes.

Demi overdosed on opioids in 2018, and she later told reporters that the experience had damaged her brain. The singer talked about her survivor’s guilt in relation to DMX’s passing last year.

On April 9, 2021, the rapper passed away at the age of 50. His cause of death was later determined by an autopsy to be a cocaine-induced heart attack.

One of the three guys who gave Miller oxycodone tablets that were laced with fentanyl was given a 17-year prison term in May.

Miller passed away at the pinnacle of his career. His top-charting hits include “Loud,” “Donald Trump,” and his duet with Ariana Grande, “The Way.” Swimming, his last album, was released a month before his passing, and Circles, his posthumous album, was released in 2020.

Speaking about their new album, “Holy Fvck,” on the Zane Lowe Show podcast on Apple Music, Lovato said that accepting their overdose was challenging in light of Mac Miller’s passing from the same cause not long after.

“I’ve lost friends that were around my age, and those hurt so deeply because we’ve been in the trenches together,” they added to the new album’s track ‘Dead Friends’, which pays tribute to her fallen friends.” Demi stated.

Lovato discussed her overdose in her new documentary series, Dancing With The Devil, last year. And now mentioning Demi Lovato’s “survivor’s guilt”.

My doctor stated that I had five to ten more minutes (to survive), she added, adding that she “had three strokes, I had a heart attack” after her overdose.

If “Holy Fvck” is a funeral for Lovato’s pop music, it also heralds a fresh start and the rebirth of an artist, according to other sources’ reviews of the new album. It’s the beginning of a brave new era as the musician celebrates her musical roots and delves into this fierce sound realm.
