This little guy is amazing. Revolutionary, in some sense. Tile is a small tracking device that helps you find your stuff – keys, (other) phone(s), bike, wallet, you name it. It’s about half the size of a credit card, and together with the Tile App makes a great combo that will prevent you from ever losing your possessions.
Apparently, we’re not the only ones that love Tile. The funding campaign has received over 9000% financial support. You know things get serious when it’s over 9000.
So, what can this sleek sticky key chain do?
First of all, it’s only iOS compatible, and works with iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad Mini, iPad 3rd and 4th gen, and iPod Touch 5th gen. From a personal perspective, this is a disadvantage, but hopefully something will be done about it in the future.
The App displays an increasing signal image as you’re getting closer or further away from the Tile, within a 50 – 150 ft. range. When it’s close, the built-in speaker can transmit an audible signal, if you’ve set it to do so.
Other features include the possibility to access the App from your friends’ phones, sharing access with other people you trust, and mark an object as lost, so that other Tile users can find your missing possession.
It just feels like such a… „natural” device and I’m happy it was created at this moment in time, when such awesome functions are possible. Oh, and it’s pretty cheap, so that’s even better.
