Jeep made a reputation from bringing up various concepts to the annual Moab Jeep Safari, but this time it exceeded expectations by quite a lot. Dubbed „Trailcat”, this monster is built on the platform of the famous Wrangler. And it’s not only about the looks, as you are about to see in the following pictures.

The 707HP paddock

The number itself isn’t random at all. As some of you might have figured out, Jeep uses the Hellcat V8 engine. The standard Wrangler silhouette doesn’t feature enough space to hold the powerplant, so Jeep extended its wheelbase by 12 inches.

Big wheels just became bigger

Jeep did not limit the upgrades to just the 12 inch longer wheelbase, but also acted on other body elements of the Wrangler. A chopped windshield comes along with enormous 39.5 inch BF Goodrich Krawler tires. After all, something big is needed to push 650 lb/ft of torque to the ground and carry the Trailcat over pretty much any surface. And of course, it comes with a manual tranny.

Can I get one?

At least for the moment, no. While Jeep’s journey into „hellcat-ing” everything in its lineup is impressive, there is no official details about the Trailcat being mass-produced, or even in a limited edition. However, you will be able to acquire a Grand Cherokee with the same V8 unit starting with 2017 – and that’s official.
